Vikings to Descend on Flamborough

Vikings to Descend on Flamborough

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 6:02am 30th December 2016.

A hoard of Vikings is set to invade the Yorkshire Coast on New Year's Eve, as the second annual Festival of Fire takes place in Flamborough.

Last year's event saw over 4,000 people attend the event, all dressed as Vikings.

The aim is to celebrate the history and heritage of the village, which was invaded by the Vikings when they landed on these shores.

Jane Emmerson is one of the organisers of the event, she said:

"Go on the internet, get a Viking costume or helmet, bring the kids because it is a family event.

We'd love to see everybody come along to see the fire balls and fire torches in action and also we've got the Viking long-ship which we'll pull through the streets.

There was a wonderful atmosphere last year, which was our first year and it looked absolutely amazing."
