Scarborough's Night Time Economy: The Police View

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 11:40am 20th December 2016.

Scarborough Police say they've adapted shift patterns to cope with the night time economy in the town centre.

All this week we're looking at the effects of late-night drinking on and around St Nicholas Street.

The force says it's busy in that area on a Friday and Saturday night, as a surge of drinkers hits the bars later in the evening.

Inspector Graeme Kynman says they make sure they have enough staff to cope operationally and that the Community Impact Team, which he manages, works with several agancies to try and improve these problems.

The council's extended it's public consultation and is asking for the views of residents on what they'd like to see done.
