Decision Due Soon For South Cliff Gardens Bid

Decision Due Soon For South Cliff Gardens Bid

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 1:41pm 23rd November 2016.

The Friends of South Cliff Gardens in Scarborough will soon find out if the first stage of their £5 million funding bid has been successful.

In August they put in an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, they expect to hear back from them in the next couple of weeks.

They've already restored the Rose Garden, and now want to do the same for the rest of the site.

Adrian Perry, the chairman of the Friends of South Cliff Gardens, said:

"Well I'm very confident that the bid we put in is a very strong bid, and I also feel that the Heritage Lottery regional office are very supportive of it, but we obviously have to get the support of the national organisation. I'm hoping that they can see what benefits this will bring to both Scarborough and to the tourist activity in the town."
