Scarborough Multi-Screen Cinema Given the Go-Ahead

Plans for a new cinema complex in Scarborough have been approved
Outline planning permission was granted last year for a cinema - restaurants - and apartments where the Atlantis Water Park used to be.
Today the The remaining planning issues have been examined by the council's planning committee and planning has been approved.
It clears the way for for the construction of the seven screen, 1060 seat cinema along with seven commercial units which could be a mix of retail units, cafes, restaurants and bars.
There would also be 24 apartments on the first to fourth floors of the building and a four level multi-storey car park with space for over 300 cars.
It's expected that work on the site will start this year with the potential for a cinema to be open on the site by the end on 2017. The project is being managed by Benchmark who were also responsible for the water park development. The project will be privately funded.
