Flying Scotsman Due in Scarborough

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 8:21am 23rd February 2016. (Updated at 11:39am 23rd February 2016)

The 'Flying Scotsman' is coming to Scarborough after all.

According to Realtime Trains, the famous steam locomotive which was built in Doncaster in 1923, will be at the station at 14.55 - after passing Seamer at 14.47.

The Flying Scotsman will then leave Scarborough at 5:05pm passing Seamer at 5:14pm.

It was recently renovated and will be on show at the National Railway Museum in York later this week..

It was due to make the journey from York yesterday, but a broken spring meant it didn't travel..

A spokesperson for Network Rail said:

“While we understand interest in Flying Scotsman will be extremely high, we urge those wishing to view it do so from a safe vantage point. It is vital that spectators do not venture onto the railway as a full timetable of regular services will be running. In order to avoid overcrowding we are not publishing recommended viewing points. We wish those who are boarding Flying Scotsman on Thursday or any taking other journey on board during the summer an enjoyable experience.”
