Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 9:45am 5th October 2015.

The countdown has begun for the launch of the region’s most prestigious tourism awards with the news that the glittering awards ceremony is to return to the Spa Royal Hall in Bridlington in 2016.

Regarded as the tourism “Oscars”, the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (the REYTAs) are organised by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) and honour the very best, from major visitor attractions and events to hotels and accommodation providers, restaurants, pubs, cafes, food retailers and producers.

The categories for the 2016 REYTAs are due to be announced later this month but VHEY’s tourism manager Andy Gray has already revealed that the finals evening will be held at the Spa on Thursday, March 17.

“This will be the seventh year of the awards and we’ve enjoyed record entries on each occasion, so we are hoping for a big response once again,” said Mr Gray.

“The REYTAs are an opportunity for our local tourism businesses to celebrate quality. The tourism industry is extremely competitive and delivering a high quality experience and service to the visitor will increase visitor spend and encourage repeat visits which is our key objective at Visit Hull & East Yorkshire,” he said.

The black tie dinner honouring the best of Hull and East Yorkshire’s tourism industry has been held at the Spa on two previous occasions, the last tine in 2014. “We’re thrilled to be welcoming it back and can promise an evening not to forget,” said Spa general manager Andrew Aldis.
