Filey's Former MP Given A Peerage

Filey's Former MP Given A Peerage

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 3:57pm 27th August 2015.

Anne McIntosh, the former MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey, has today been given a peerage.

She will become a Baroness, after being named in a list of 45 new peers appointed to the House of Lords.

The list, known as the Dissolution Honours List, follows May's general election, and includes many other former MP's who stepped down this year including former foreign secretary William Hague and former chancellor Alistair Darling.

Miss McIntosh represented Filey in parliament from 2010 to 2015, and before that was the MP for Vale of York.

She also served as the chair of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.
