NEWS UPDATE: Bodies Recovered After Flamborough Helicopter Crash

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 5:29pm 16th September 2014. (Updated at 6:10pm 16th September 2014)

Two bodies have been found after a helicopter crashed into the sea at Flamborough.

The men, both deceased, were recovered from the aircraft shortly before 1700hrs.

The helicopter, which had two men on board at the time, was a private charter flying from an airfield near Edinburgh to its final destination near Retford.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch will be leading the investigation into the incident to establish the circumstances which resulted in the aircraft crashing into the sea.

Humberside Police has confirmed they were called at 1.40pm by a member of the public, who reported seeing the helicopter fall into the sea.

Eyewitness reports say the craft had got into difficulty on cliffs at the edge of Flamborough Head Golf Club.

Police, the Coastguard and ambulance have all been at the scene and the craft has been found, near the golf club.

The area has been cordoned off by the emergency services, who  have begun an investigation into what happened.
