To mark World Mental Health Day, Scarborough Survivors is holding an open day at its Mental Health Resource Centre at 9 Alma Square, Scarborough on 10 October.
Anyone aged 16 and over is welcome to call in and meet members, volunteers and staff. During the open day, people who have experienced poor mental health will be available to talk about their own journey and how the Resource Centre has had a positive impact. There will be free refreshments, the opportunity to look round the centre and try mental health board games.
The resource centre is open 7 days a week from 11.30am - 4.30pm. From October, the night-time Crisis Café will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm - 1am and Sunday, 8pm - 1am. The resource centre offers a safe place for social contact and activities, a listening ear and support.
The charity is encouraging more people to talk about their mental health and get the help and support they need and to reduce isolation. Training and support is offered to anyone willing to talk during a coffee morning or other social situation.
Also on 10 October, Scarborough Survivors will have an information table in the foyer of Scarborough Library from 9am. there will be someone there to speak about our services and direct visitors to our Resource Centre which is a short walk from the town centre.
