Grange Farm
East Heslerton
YO17 8EN

Come and join us for a rare opportunity to view both the museum and gardens at Grange Farm. There will be light refreshments available and a tombola.

John Cussons founded Grange Farm museum in 1994 with a small collection of disused farm items. It is a collection of old agricultural machinery, tools and artefacts which has grown over the years through generous donations, discoveries on the farm and purchases at local sales. Amongst the museum you will find a veterinary corner, slaughter house, washroom, weights and measures section, a collection of gamekeepers traps, old local newspaper cuttings and keepsakes, a shepherd's bothy and a gardening shed to name but a few. Many old roman coins, pieces of jewellery, broken pottery and fossils have also been discovered by archeological digs on the farm over the years. The museum demonstrates and preserves farming life from the early 1900s before mechanisation. The highlights include a typical 1900 - 1950s farm workmen's dormitory and traditional 1900 - 1940s kitchen.

Grange Farm also has exquisite gardens which will also be open for viewings. The highlights of the traditional english country garden include a lakeside walkway, ponds and stream, rockeries and perennial borders.
