Father, Son and Godfather

Ashley Solomon explores repertoire for unaccompanied flute by three giants of the baroque era. Six Fantasias by Telemann are performed either side of works by Johann
Sebastian Bach and his most famous son Carl Phillip Emmanuel who was inspired to write for the flute by his employer King Frederick the Great of Prussia. All three composers were very closely linked, with Telemann being CPE Bach’s Godfather.

All twelve Fantasias have recently been recorded by Ashley Solomon for Channel Classics on a number of flutes, including two unique instruments both built in 1760. One is an ivory flute by the English maker Cahusac, the other belongs to the Royal Collection Trust and is believed to have been owned and played by King George III.

The first collaboration of famed partners Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma! set the American musical theatre standard. Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised to spend their new life together in a brand new state: O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A - OKLAHOMA!

Hello!

We hold an OPEN CIRCLE: every Wednesday 7pm-8pm.

This is quite informal. We will have either a local medium or visiting medium who begins by giving some messages from spirit to the loved ones in the congregation. Because it's an 'open' service it is an ideal opportunity for developing mediums or those who are in the very early stages of developing their psychic or mediumistic skills to give a message of their own should they wish to do so. At regular intervals either the person chairing or the medium taking the service will ask if anyone in the congregation has anything they feel they would like to pass on to others. Don't worry, it doesn't need to be anything big, something as simple as a colour, a word, a name or a symbol, while it may not mean anything to the person passing it on it could mean the world to the recipient of that message. This is also very often how even the best mediums and psychics begin to develop and learn, with something small and simple, and in a supportive environment where they can foster that special gift.

At Westborough Spiritual and Healing Centre we wanted to let you know a little about our church and the services we have on offer that you may feel are beneficial to you, your family and friends.

The church was founded more than 25 years ago by a small group of people who wanted for bring together like-minded people, who wanted to join forces in bridging that gap between the spiritual realms and us here on the earth plane to create greater communications between both worlds, drawing them a little closer together.

The church is affiliated with the Greater World Spiritual Association, with whom we share common beliefs. However, no matter what your background is and whatever brings you through our door, you are assured of a very warm welcome.

Life can be very stressful at times and we all need to have that little time to take stock, find a little solace and peace and just recharge our batteries, so why not pop along and see what we do.

Our regular weekly services are as follows:

Wednesday: Open Circle. 7pm-8pm (£2 admission)
Saturday: Clairvoyant Service 7pm-8pm
Sunday: Divine Service 6.30-8pm

Refreshments are available after the services.

Our healing services are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-3pm and on Thursday evening 7-9pm. All our qualified healers undergo an extensive 2 years training in the art of healing. It is a nationally and legally recognised qualification.

There is a coffee morning on the last Saturday in the month, which is an ideal opportunity to pop in for a cuppa and a chat, meet the committee members, make new friends and find out more about what we do at Westborough Spiritual & Healing Centre. Private readings are also available.

Tea/coffee and biscuits 50p or tea/coffee and cake £1.

Private readings with a highly experienced medium £12.

We also offer classes in spiritual awareness and in healing for those who would like to seek further understanding and develop their healing powers and spirituality in the future. Please feel free to ask any committee member for further details and they will be happy to help you. All our healers and local mediums affiliated with the church are highly trained and give of their time freely in the services of others.

Please check out our "verified" Facebook page for further details and keep up to date about any of our regular services and the *special* exciting events we have coming up throughout late spring and right through the summer and beyond. You don't want to miss them.

https://www.facebook.com/WestboroughSpiritualHealingCentre/

Feel free to keep in touch with us and let us know if there's anything we can do to be of further service to you.

We look forward to seeing you at any of our services in the near future, where you're assured of a warm and friendly welcome.

Canadian powerhouse folk band Tanglefoot were hugely popular in Britain in the first decade of the century, along the way appearing twice at NCEM. Survivors Steve Ritchie (guitar), Rob Ritchie (keyboards) and Al Parrish (bass), with percussionist Beaker Granger, have a sound that echoes the Tanglefoot legacy whilst expanding the envelope. Their music, storytelling and high-spirited presence displays the same blend of enthusiasm, ability and personality that made the earlier band so successful. Whether an original song of Al's, Steve's recollection of a Robert Plant version of a Dylan tune or Rob's incisive humour, all the trademark harmony, chemistry and impact are there.

"They sing raucously and passionately with big stirring harmonies....at times with roaring vigour, at others with sparse intensity" - The Beat Magazine
