Santa Paws Appeal

Wednesday 18th December, 2019

Every year Pets at Home run their annual charity Christmas event The Santa Paws Appeal to raise money for Support Adoption for Pets who help animal charities by funding grants, building new rescue centres, funding vet bills and even pet medical equipment for fire stations! Each store also supports their own local charities who get 50% of all the money raised. Scarborough store supports Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue who help, foster and rehome dogs across the Yorkshire Coast. From November 22nd until Christmas Eve events take place inside the store: tombola, bake sales, games (including our toughest one yet - guess the combination to free Santa from the crate!) Just 50p will provide a rescue pet with a Christmas dinner. Scarborough is aiming to raise £4000 this year! Donations can be made in store at the stalls or added on to your shopping (so card payment is fine!) and they can also be made online. Yorkshire a Coast Dog Rescue are also looking for volunteers to help run the tombolas and bake sales and of course...pets are welcome to join too! even if it’s just an hour or two!

Paul Wheater who has a Summer/Autumn twenty week season at Filey Evron Centre each year will be back in Filey for his annual “Christmas Special” on Wednesday 18th December. Paul is best known for his voice that is remarkably like the late Jim Reeves and for his two appearances at the London Palladium. Paul filled this world famous theatre twice, with many of his fans travelling from Yorkshire and County Durham to London for his shows.

The Evron show has around two hours of Christmas favourites, country classics and well-loved sacred songs. There will also be a chance to join in with a sing-along session of Christmas carols. Being a Yorkshireman Paul always likes to give good value for money, and included in the ticket price will be a glass of wine, mince pies, cups of tea and coffee with biscuits and a Christmas cracker!

Some of the Evron regulars are running a bumper raffle with dozens of prizes, and all the proceeds will go towards Filey Gospel Music Briggfest, which is a weekend of country gospel music and outreach taking place at the Evron Centre each August.

Tickets which are priced at £6.00 can be ordered in advance or collected on the door from 5.00pm on the day of the show. Like all Paul’s shows this is family friendly and admission for children accompanied by an adult is free.
