Santa Paws Appeal

Friday 29th November, 2019

Every year Pets at Home run their annual charity Christmas event The Santa Paws Appeal to raise money for Support Adoption for Pets who help animal charities by funding grants, building new rescue centres, funding vet bills and even pet medical equipment for fire stations! Each store also supports their own local charities who get 50% of all the money raised. Scarborough store supports Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue who help, foster and rehome dogs across the Yorkshire Coast. From November 22nd until Christmas Eve events take place inside the store: tombola, bake sales, games (including our toughest one yet - guess the combination to free Santa from the crate!) Just 50p will provide a rescue pet with a Christmas dinner. Scarborough is aiming to raise £4000 this year! Donations can be made in store at the stalls or added on to your shopping (so card payment is fine!) and they can also be made online. Yorkshire a Coast Dog Rescue are also looking for volunteers to help run the tombolas and bake sales and of course...pets are welcome to join too! even if it’s just an hour or two!

Scarborough Borough Council is holding a drop in event to provide advice and information to help residents keep warm and well in their homes. The event is held in support of National Fuel Poverty Awareness Day, which raises awareness and understanding of the issues faced by those living in cold homes. Funding is available to help residents in the Borough benefit from a range of new energy efficiency initiatives which will help householders access a range of measures to make their homes warmer and cheaper to heat. As well as advice on topics such as insulation, replacement boilers and renewable energy, visitors to the event will able to find out whether they are on the best energy tariff and discover if they are eligible for a grant to help pay for energy efficiency improvements. Many people live in a cold house over winter because they are concerned about paying their fuel bills, not realising that they may be eligible for help. For many residents, the energy efficiency measures will be free. Anyone who is interested in reducing their heating bills to come to the event to see what help is available.

Wildwood Kin are a family trio whose sound is characterised by extraordinary harmonies.

Their brilliant debut album, while influenced by their early folk leanings, delved deeply into other genres, featuring both electric and acoustic instruments, and boasted inventive sonics and spectral atmospherics alongside their hypnotic three-part harmonies.

Guitarist Emillie Key, her bouzouki/keyboard-playing sister Beth and their drumming cousin Meghann Loney, all sing, swapping leads and joining forces on harmonies

Currently in the studio with producer Ian Grimble, they are working on their second album, much of which was written in the US. The album is due out on Sony/Sivertone in May when the girls will be headlining a UK wide tour in conjunction with Bob Harris’ Under The Apple Tree brand.

They have just released a covers ep “Voices of Equilibrium” and have recently topped 13 million streams on Spotify.
