Get Crazy Hair for patient care this October in aid of Saint Catherine’s!
Saint Catherine’s is encouraging everyone to bling up their bouffant, perk up their ponytail or whack on a wig this October for Crazy Hair Day 2019!
The fun-filled fundraiser is open to everyone – so gather a group of friends, family or workmates, choose a day in October to hold your event, and let your imagination run riot.
Participants are encouraged to create crazy hairstyles as a way of raising funds to support patient care. Everyone who takes part is encouraged to make a donation on the day.
You can also raise money by gathering sponsorship, setting up a Just Giving page or putting out collection buckets at your workplace.
Sian Cromack, hospice fundraiser, said: “Crazy Hair Day is fun way to raise much-needed funds for patient care and it’s open to everyone! So join us this October and let’s make it as crazy and colourful as possible.”

The British Heart Foundation is looking to set up a Fundraising Group in Scarborough.

Fundraising groups are the face of the BHF in their local community, putting on events locally from coffee mornings to quiz nights, danceathons to afternoon teas. Fundraising groups raise money in a way that works for them and fits around their lifestyle.

We are holding a meeting on 10th October at 11:15 till 12:30 at the street for anyone interested in joining our volunteer team and hearing more about volunteering their time to keep more hearts beating.

To mark World Mental Health Day, Scarborough Survivors is holding an open day at its Mental Health Resource Centre at 9 Alma Square, Scarborough on 10 October.
Anyone aged 16 and over is welcome to call in and meet members, volunteers and staff. During the open day, people who have experienced poor mental health will be available to talk about their own journey and how the Resource Centre has had a positive impact. There will be free refreshments, the opportunity to look round the centre and try mental health board games.
The resource centre is open 7 days a week from 11.30am - 4.30pm. From October, the night-time Crisis Café will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm - 1am and Sunday, 8pm - 1am. The resource centre offers a safe place for social contact and activities, a listening ear and support.
The charity is encouraging more people to talk about their mental health and get the help and support they need and to reduce isolation. Training and support is offered to anyone willing to talk during a coffee morning or other social situation.
Also on 10 October, Scarborough Survivors will have an information table in the foyer of Scarborough Library from 9am. there will be someone there to speak about our services and direct visitors to our Resource Centre which is a short walk from the town centre.

Love. Hate. Good. Evil. Nature. Nurture. Mag lives in a rustic cabin in the Canadian wilds, far from neighbours and further from her past. But when her estranged daughter Beth turns up on the doorstep having been freshly released from prison, the past becomes terrifyingly present. And it has teeth.

Friends of Valley Gardens are holding their first AGM at 7 pm on Thursday 10th October in the Conference Room at Woodend, The Crescent, Scarborough. The formal business of the evening is to ratify the Friends' Constitution and elect a Committee to carry the business of the group forward. If you are interested in the Gardens this is a chance to find out what the group has achieved and what plans they have for the future.
This session will be fairly brief and will be followed by tea, coffee and biscuits. Roger Burnett will then give an illustrated talk on the History of the Parks and Gardens in Scarborough which should be very interesting.
