TRY SAILING IN MAY WITH THE ROYAL YORKSHIRE YACHT CLUB.

Over the weekend of 18th and 19th May The Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club is supporting the RYA’s ‘Push The boat Out’ campaign and offering the chance to try sailing at little or no cost – no experience is needed!

Push the Boat Out is aimed at anyone interested in getting into a boat and out on the water. With no experience or equipment necessary, events are aimed at complete beginners, as well as more experienced sailors looking for a way back into the sport or interested in finding out more about their local club. Families, children, partners, individuals, groups of friends – everyone is welcome.

The RYYC is based from two sites in Bridlington. The main club house overlooks the harbour, with the dingy sailing site at Wilsthorpe. Our activities for ‘Push The Boat Out’ are based at our Wilsthorpe site where there is plenty of parking.

Wilsthorpe primarily sails Dart 18 and Dart 16 catamarans, although there now are some Hurricane 5.9’s. The Darts are well suited to beach launching and are a popular racing class across the country. All sailing dinghies that can be beach launched are more than welcome. On the day there will be the chance to crew on a Dart 18, launch your own boat with assistance or bring your own windsurfer. Bridlington South Beach is an excellent venue for Windsurfing and the RYC NE regional training squad will also be with us that weekend.

The event runs from >
Saturday 18th May 0930 – 1630
Sunday 18th May 1000- 1500

Please book in advance, especially if you would like to launch your own boat. Call the secretary on 01262 762041 or email sec@ryyc.org.uk

A warm welcome awaits.

Platform 5 will comprise a variety of mediums including; Painting, Sculpture, Photography and Prints all based around the students’ individual practices, as BA (Hons) Fine Art student Kirsty Farrow, explained:
“We have decided to call the exhibition Platform 5 because there are five of us exhibiting and this is going to be a platform on which we can celebrate our individuality and look forward to our future as professional Artists.”
“Because we are holding the exhibition at the Old Parcels Office at Scarborough Station, it also seemed fitting that we tie the event in with the station and the history of the building itself.”
