On Saturday 16th February a group of dedicated singers from St Mark’s Church, Newby, will undertake their third 8 hour ‘Hymn Marathon’. Raising funds for the church’s Building Development project they’ll sing through their hymn book from 9am till 5pm in two teams, each doing 45 minutes alternately. Previous ‘Hymn Marathons’ were held in 2016 and 2017 and each raised over £600.

At the same time there will be Morning Coffee / Lunch / Afternoon Tea served so that supporters can come and listen and even join in if they want to. You can also have your favourite hymn sung for £2.

The event will be held in the Church Hall as the church itself is currently closed while it is being re-roofed.

SDSG has organised an evening for people with a disability and their carers/family to try out various accessible sports at Scarborough Sports Village on February 16th 5.30pm till 8:00pm.
Why not come along and join in, there will be many sports for you to try and watch demonstrations, alongside a free bouncy castle.

Sports including Boccia, Chair Volley Ball, Bowles, Swimming, Cycling and many more.

A spokesperson from Sea Shepherd an organisation dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals is giving a wildlife talk at the Duchess Pub on Hovinghan Drive from 7pm on Saturday 16th February. There will also be a talk by Yorkshire Badger Trust and Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary. Food available on the night, also a raffle. Funds raised go to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary. Driffield Male Voice Choir led by MD, Liz Wilson, are performing a concert, in aid of Choir funds, on Saturday 16th February at 7.30pm. The concert will be in Driffield Methodist Church Schoolroom on Westgate. Steve Poole, the chairman, is keen to promote young musicians and the choir's guests will be Nicolas Lenghel and Joseph Bremner, both young pianists and pupils of the choir's accompanist Leonie Creswell. There will also be a performance by 20 year old Lewis Scott, from Cottingham, an organist who is trying to promote the versatility of the instrument. Tickets are £5 and are available from Sokells, Driffield, from Choir members and on the door.

Ranagri are delighted to have secured a new recording contract with Grammy Award Winning
Record Label 'Stockfisch' early in2018 where they are currently recording a

brand new (as yet untitled) album which will be released on SACD - CD & Vinyl in autumn 2018.

They have also published a book 'Song Folk Art' through Robinswood Press with an
accompanying Traditional Folk Album recorded throughout 2014 and the critically acclaimed 2016 album
VOICES

Ranagri have been busy with performances at Cambridge, Gate to Southwell, Wath, Stourbridge
and Purbeck Folk Festivals, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Folk on the Quay and combining their love for
world music they have collaborated with top Indian Musicians at The Bhavan Centre,
London – the largest Indian Music Cultural Centre outside of India which has hosted the likes of Ravi Shankar and
George Harrison. 2016 will see them release a new album and a British tour planned for September onwards.

Ranagri have also recently released an album with International singer
Tony Christie of an Irish Folk-Song album, tracing a
shared Irish heritage.
