The Night the Moonchild Smiled

Friday 14th December, 2018 10:30am

Tel: 01723 370541

Stephen Joseph Theatre
YO11 1JW

Betsy Moon is quite a grump
The “grown ups” always say
“Come on Betsy do cheer up”
But Betsy will not play.

“Oh Betsy straighten up your crown”
The King and Queen request
“Turn that frown upside down
You’re the moodiest Princess”.

The King and Queen decide one night
To make their moonchild grin
They’ll need some help with their plight
Or they’ll throw her in the bin!

A lovely, silly tale of a moody moonchild and how the moon folk are brought together to make her smile. With all the usual Tiny Time Tales fun and interaction.

Fearsome Festive Friday - Calling All Writers

Friday 14th December, 2018 11:00am to 1:00pm

Tel: 07875758115

Eastfield Community Library
High Street
YO11 3LL

It’s time for budding writers to get pen to paper and create a spooky festive ghost story in time for Christmas!

From 11am to 1pm on Friday 14th December, try your hand at writing a Christmas ghost story with the help of a trained tutor organised by the Workers’ Education Association at Eastfield Community Library.

The two-hour taster session is free to attend and is open to all writers aged 16 and above.

The Scarborough and Whitby Branch of the WEA Yorkshire and Humber has teamed up with the Eastfield Community Library to provide this one-off adult learning taster session in time for the festive period.

Tutor George Cromack said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to write a ghost story, whether you’ve tried to write one before or if this is a totally new experience.

“Christmas is rich with ghost stories, from Marley’s Ghost in A Christmas Carol to The Woman in Black. It’s a great opportunity to discover your writing talents!

“The WEA is keen to work in the community and ensure that adult learning is within reach.

“This special two hour tutored session will be fun yet creative.”

Rebecca Williams, Librarian at the Eastfield Community Library, said: “We are very excited about this free event, which should get the creative juices flowing!

“This is the second occasion we’ve teamed up with WEA, as we held a workshop with the organisation back in the summer.
“We feel the WEA is a great fit with the services our library offers, and we are looking forward to seeing what scary stories can be created!”

Alice in Wonderland

Friday 14th December, 2018 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Tel: 01723 370541

Stephen Joseph Theatre
YO11 1JW

Once upon a time there was a little girl who ran free in the wilds of her imagination, meeting Cheshire Cats, Mad Hatters, White Rabbits and any amount of talking cards. Her Wonderland was real, and she’d never forget it.

Until she grew up and did.

This year, the team that brought you the smash hit Christmas shows A (Scarborough) Christmas Carol and Pinocchio invite you to Boyes on a crowded Christmas Eve, as Alice falls down the rabbit hole once again to find she’s still a child in Wonderland… but Wonderland has changed.

And not for the better.

Can she save her wonderful friends? Will she get back to her kids, who she left by a fire extinguisher near the stock room? And can you get decent phone reception at the Mad Hatter’s house?

Daft, exciting and filled with brilliant songs, Alice in Wonderland is a delight for all the family, and their rabbits.*

*The rabbit thing might not be true. Who knows what rabbits are into? Leave them behind.
