Good Inspirations in Scarboro’
A reading of poems and letters written by Wilfred Owen 1917-1918 in Scarborough

Saturday 10 Feb 2018 | From 3pm onwards
Scarborough Art Gallery

On Saturday 10 February at Scarborough Art Gallery, the Wilfred Owen Society will present a reading of letters and poems written between the celebrated war poet and his mother during his time in Scarborough. Sam Gray and Yvette Morris will present Good Inspirations in Scarboro’, reading as Wilfred and Susan Owen, who shared a strong bond and a close relationship. The event reveals their thoughts in their own written words during the time Owen spent in Scarborough between November 1917 and August 1918.

The talk will be illustrated with projected images of the Clifton Hotel where Owen was billeted (then called the Clarence Gardens Hotel). The event is free with an annual pass and no booking is needed.

Good Inspirations in Scarboro’ begins a centenary programme of the 1918 -2018 events marking the final year of Owen’s life, much of which he spent in Scarborough. “They will not dream of us poor lads…”: Wilfred Owen in Scarborough will be presented at Scarborough Art Gallery from 7 April – 2 September 2018 , with exhibits exploring how his experiences, the people he met and the places he visited shaped him as a poet. It includes the museum’s own Wilfred Owen bust which was donated to the Scarborough Collections by award-winning artist Anthony Padgett.

Songs Of Rod Stewart – Cregan & co.

Starring Jim Cregan - one of the most influential guitarists in Rod Stewart’s original band The Faces. Jim co-wrote, co-produced, and musically directed for Rod for approaching two decades.

Now, more than 40 years on, he has formed his own band Cregan and Co to perform that incredible musical heritage.

He is joined, along with Jim Cregan, by four other multi-talented musicians who have played with the likes of Art Garfunkel, Frank Zappa, Etta James, The Who, Jeff Beck, Katie Melua and The Faces.

Jim co-wrote the hits, recorded the albums, and toured the world with Rod – writing and performing You’re in My Heart, I Was Only Joking, Baby Jane, Blondes Have More Fun, Forever Young, D’Ya Think I’m Sexy and many more No1 hits.

Now he is taking to the road to present the very best of Rod Stewart – the songs that formed the soundtrack to our lives for more than 30 years. . .

And just like the man himself, this show will most definitely keep you Forever Young!

“IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD MY TICKETS GO SEE THESE GUYS…“THEY’RE JUST AS GOOD AND HALF THE PRICE”!!!- ROD STEWART

Directed by Ian Dobson.

This funny, heart-warming sequel to the enormously successful, "Ladies Day" performed by WADS last Spring Bank, follows the four fish-factory lasses, Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda from Whitby on their adventures in Australia.

After hitting the jackpot at Ladies' Day in York, the fish-filleting foursome are celebrating in style with the trip of a lifetime to the land of Oz.

While Shelley dreams of luxury and glamour, the rest of the gang decide to go native and camp out under the stars at Uluru. But Shelley soon discovers there's more on offer than posh hotels, stunning beaches and sun-kissed surfers; and Pearl finds that she's got a mountain of her own to climb, a problem that she is loathe to share...

Some say he’s blunt. Others would call it ‘rude’. Either way, Roman J Israel (Denzel Washington) isn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

Once a passionate political activist who rallied in the streets for equality and justice, he’s now a defence lawyer who represents the down-and-out criminals of Los Angeles.

But constantly fighting for the underdogs has taken a toll on Roman, and he becomes more jaded and discouraged by the day. When he suddenly finds himself laid off by his firm, he reaches a turning point.
