Good Inspirations in Scarboro’
A reading of poems and letters written by Wilfred Owen 1917-1918 in Scarborough

Saturday 10 Feb 2018, 3pm, Scarborough Art Gallery, Free with Annual Pass.

On Saturday 10 February at Scarborough Art Gallery, the Wilfred Owen Society will present a reading of letters and poems written between the celebrated war poet and his mother during his time in Scarborough. Sam Gray and Yvette Morris will present Good Inspirations in Scarboro’, reading as Wilfred and Susan Owen, who shared a strong bond and a close relationship. The event reveals their thoughts in their own written words during the time Owen spent in Scarborough between November 1917 and August 1918.

The talk will be illustrated with projected images of the Clifton Hotel where Owen was billeted (then called the Clarence Gardens Hotel). The event is free with an annual pass and no booking is needed.

Good Inspirations in Scarboro’ begins a centenary programme of the 1918 -2018 events marking the final year of Owen’s life, much of which he spent in Scarborough. “They will not dream of us poor lads…”: Wilfred Owen in Scarborough will be presented at Scarborough Art Gallery from 7 April – 2 September 2018 , with exhibits exploring how his experiences, the people he met and the places he visited shaped him as a poet. It includes the museum’s own Wilfred Owen bust which was donated to the Scarborough Collections by award-winning artist Anthony Padgett.

For more details on the Wilfred Owen Society reading of poems and letters written by Wilfred Owen, or forthcoming exhibitions, please visit or call 01723 374753.

Bulsara and his Queenies

Saturday 10th February, 2018 7:30pm to 10:00pm

Tel: 01723 506750

St. Thomas Street
North Yorkshire
YO11 1DY

On Saturday 10th February 2018, the YMCA Theatre presents Bulsara and His Queenies, the most sensational new Queen band of the modern era.

This fabulous 5 piece band have, in a short time, rapidly built an awesome reputation as one of the most prolific and authentic bands who delivery a truly remarkable performance of Queen’s music.

Most Queen Tribute Bands attempt to recreate Queen’s iconic gig at Wembley in 1986 on their final tour….. Bulsara and His Queenies have their own identity and their show is quite different…..

They don’t describe themselves as a ‘Queen Tribute Band’ as there are no wigs, replica costumes, yellow jackets or false moustaches in their show. They don’t really believe in gimmicks and would rather focus their energy on delivering a stunning performance of Queen’s music rather than try to visually imitate an iconic Queen show.

When Queen toured the world, they performed different ‘live’ arrangements of their songs compared to their studio catalogue. Bulsara and His Queenies take pride in performing the ‘studio’ versions of Queen songs despite it being considerably more challenging.

As well as the more mainstream songs such as ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘We Are The Champions’, we also perform many album tracks including ‘Brighton Rock’, ‘It’s Late’, ‘Dragon Attack’ and ‘Need Your Loving Tonight’.

“The whole point of Queen was to be original” – Freddie Mercury

“Your vocals are incredible!” – Freddie’s own production team
“We Will Rock You…look out!” – Marrion Masson, Music Now

Graham Fellows: Completely out of Character

Saturday 10th February, 2018 8:00pm to 10:00pm

Tel: 01723 821888

Scarborough Spa
South Bay
North Yorkshire
YO11 2HD

A special Coastival Presentation: meet Graham Fellows … completely out of character!

Graham has performed as the comic character, John Shuttleworth for over 25 years on stage, TV and Radio, delighting audiences throughout the UK with his songs and quirky take on everyday life.

Now Graham, minus purple leather jacket and fawn slacks (but fully clothed!) steps out from behind the keyboard to plug in his guitar and sing his own songs: revelatory, humorous and quirky still, sometimes sad.

Graham will naturally talk about Shuttleworth as well as his other comic characters, plus his pivotal acting role on Coronation Street, and becoming a teenage pop star as Jilted John.

Hear the tale of the night, Jazz legend, George Melly broke into Graham's bedsit, and of the time he bought a packet of bread sauce with a famous Hollywood actor, poignantly recalled in the ballad, 'Mark Rylance Was My Lodger'.

All Tickets: £12 (plus booking fee)
