Rainbow Centre Castle Road Scarborough

An Evening of Music and Dance with an Irish twist.

A cabaret style concert evening to promote a musical drama we are hoping to put on in Scarborough later this year. The concert is also to raise funds to aid the marvellous work of The Rainbow Centre.

With songs taken from the drama written by local writer and former teacher Alan Combes, it is a true family story by local man John F McGlinchey.

The drama itself travels from the famine of the Irish potato blight in 1848 – hence the Black Potatoes title – to the battlefield of the First World War at Ypres, via a new life started in Walmgate, the heart of the Irish community in York - so very much a local connection.

We will have a band of 4 musicians, guitars, fiddles and a harp including Steve Cassidy from York who wrote all the songs from the drama, a group of local singers and some ballet too !!!

Steve Cassidy is an English singer who started his career at the age of 14, opening a Cliff Richard concert and recorded with Joe Meek then later with the film composer John Barry and has appeared on TV.
He will be ending the evening with a solo performance of some of his other music.

Light refreshments are included in the ticket price and you may bring your own wine!

Strictly by ticket only – please see the details shown on the flyer.
