Great Run Local is a free, weekly, friendly running initiative organised by fantastic volunteers that can take place on any day and time of the week. Offering both 2km and 5km distances, our aim is to increase and encourage sport participation for all abilities and ages, from absolute beginners and families to more experienced regular runners.

All events are supported by trained volunteers including our fantastic Great Run Local event coordinators as well as first aid trained volunteers.

All our events provide a social start and finish area for participants to meet new people, interact with other runners, share their stories and offer encouragement to each other. The weekly runs provide participants with the opportunity to attend frequently and maintain the fitness benefits associated with running regularly.

With your own personal Great Run Local Tag ID, participants can also track their progression through our unique mobile app.

A weekly timed event that offers both 2km and 5km routes. The event is family friendly and runners, joggers and walkers are all encouraged to participate. Please note that this event is on the CCW Scoresby Site (Whitby Sixth Form). Participants are encouraged to register for a Great Run Local timing card or wristband. This event is FREE to participate in. This event is totally volunteer delivered, so please contact us if you would like to volunteer.

Lottie is a little girl who loves books. Lottie adores stories. Lottie often gets lost in the adventures of the characters in her books.

So…imagine her surprise when one morning she wakes up to find herself lost in Bookland. Books everywhere. Every person she meets wants to share a new story with her.

Amazing! But Lottie needs to get back in time for school.

Today is ‘new book day’ and she definitely doesn’t want to miss that.

Oh gosh! Can you help Lottie find her way through Bookland and get her home in time for school?

All the usual Tiny Time Tales interactive fun and nonsense, spread over five episodes throughout the Summer.

We will be hosting a children’s book swap - so bring along your pre-loved books!

When families get together to celebrate a special occasion, there’s a danger that all hell will break loose. Particularly if you happen to be trapped for several days with all your relatives and copious amounts of alcohol...

Neville and Belinda are hosting their extended family over a long weekend. The presence of two tyrannical uncles – Bernard, whose ham-fisted annual puppet shows are a source of dread to young and old alike, and TV addict Harvey – promises to stir up trouble from the start. And that’s before you add to the mix broken toys, creaking marriages and guest novelist Clive, whose relationship with Belinda’s sister Rachel is going nowhere, causing him to look for love elsewhere.

Directed by the author, this is the first time that the Stephen Joseph Theatre has staged Season’s Greetings since its premiere here in 1980. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see a sparkling new production of a classic Ayckbourn comedy.

Murder Mystery Evening...

Mellingham Golf Club has seen better days. The average age of the membership is 77, the greens and fairways are more like the local recreation ground than St Andrews and the last time anybody from the club won a competition was in 1979 when Freddie Brown won the mixed grill in the raffle.

Rumours of the closure of the golf club have been around for years – several property developers have submitted plans for new complexes to be built on the land, with new housing, a superstore, health centre, bank, post office and a cinema. There would be improved transport links, improved broadband and cable TV. The local villagers have been looking forward to a better standard of living for years. Now, for the last few weeks, rumours have been rife that – at last – there was progress, and an exciting new development was about to be announced.

The golf club has indeed been sold – and the new owner, Swinley Forest, has big plans. And he has invited the villagers to come to the clubhouse to hear all about them…

However, the plans do not quite meet the expectations of the locals. Swinley’s proposals includebuilding a large, exclusive golf resort to replace the run-down course which is there now. Planning permission has been granted and building work is due to begin in two weeks' time.

The guests have arrived at the village hall and are awaiting his arrival. His wife and daughter tell them that he had been playing a round with his neighbour earlier that afternoon, and that he would arrive shortly. His neighbour had obviously returned home because his car was in his drive, so where was Swinley? Walt Heath offers to go and look for him, and comes back several minutes later to say Swinley has been found in the men's changing room, clubbed to death. The police are called and the detective arrives...
