Tickets for Musicport 2017 have just gone on sale with full weekend tickets being offered at a discounted price for a limited time only and the first acts being announced.

This year’s 18th Musicport Festival held in the beautiful port of Whitby on the Yorkshire coast promises its usual high quality and eclectic line-up. All in one indoor venue overlooking the North Sea with 6 stages (and a comedy bus) it is widely regarded as a great way to end the festival season and coincides with the October half term for many. With indoor camping as an option, a festival bazaar in the main hall and international food vans it has the outdoor festival vibe but protected from the elements and with lots of activities to participate in as well as acts to see.

In addition to the main festival the festival goes on tour to the surrounding villages on the Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday following the main event. This was a successful innovation in 2016 and makes staying around for a few days even more of an option for visitors as well as extending opportunities for audiences and performers.

Meet THE ZOOTS!
Jamie is the dishy lead singer - but don't be fooled by his dreamy looks! Jamie has performed on the same bill as Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Searchers, making him the real deal.
Harriet's a real cool chick with red hot hair - and energy to match! She taps out neat percussive beats, and sings sweet backing vocals.
Ben doesn't play guitar - he makes it sing, daddy-o! Ben's playing is so hip, even your gran will want to Twist and Shout!
Tommy is a maestro with the bassline. He pops, picks and plucks the rhythm that keeps THE ZOOTS so tight and sharp!
Simon plays the drums, and lays the beat behind the hits! Simon makes that drum kit shake, rattle and roll - and how!

Critics Dig THE ZOOTS!
"The ZOOTS are impossible not to like" - The Stage
"What an amazing night!" - Stamford Corn Exchange
"The ZOOTS are fantastic" - The Beacon Theatre
" The type of band we have always been looking for " - Eastbourne Bandstand

The star studded cast of the UK’s original and longest running Rat Pack show...have achieved many accolades and awards after appearances worldwide, including seasons in The West End, A Royal Command Performance and numerous T.V shows including Strictly Come Dancing for The BBC last year.

In 2013 the show was voted the number 1 Tribute Show by The Agents Association of Great Britain, at The National Tribute Awards.

These supremely talented cast members include: Des Coleman (Lenny from Eastenders) as Sammy Davis Jnr, Paul Drakeley (Inside Out) as Dean Martin and Ol’ Blue Eyes himself in the shape of one of the world’s greatest Sinatra interpreters David Alacey (Lovejoy).

David’s acclaimed portrayal of Sinatra has been described as “Too close for Comfort” by The Sinatra Estate and Las Vegas Legend - original Rat Pack member Buddy Greco claimed that David “Really is Sinatra – it’s frightening!”

Now together with the Swinging Buddy Greco Orchestra under the Direction of BBC Musical Director – Don Hunt and the stunning L.A Showgirls, they are joined in this brand new spectacular by the amazing talent of Anita Harris.

Anita whose hit recordings include “Just Loving You” and “The Anniversary Waltz” is perhaps best known for her numerous appearances in movies including the legendary “Carry On” series and on stage in The West End with her acclaimed performance as Grizabella in Cats.

In this lavish production, she brings her own salute to the iconic Judy Garland to the stage for the first time.

Many fans of the Rat Pack will know that Judy Garland was an original member of the original Holmby Hills Rat Pack alongside Sinatra and his pals and went on to perform with Frank, Dean and Sammy many times both live in Las Vegas and on television in award winning specials.

This show once again reunites these legends together again for one special performance, featuring the hit songs and comedy which helped to create a unique chapter in Entertainment history.

Often quoted, referenced or even spoofed, there are some films we feel we are all supposed to have seen - why? From Screen Classics and Award Winners to Art-House and Cult - do all these 'iconic films' really deserve their reputation? We examine why some continue to grow into justified 'cultural corner stones' whilst others will perhaps never be greater than the sum of their parts. But for a few key references, are some once iconic movies already now fading from memory? What does it take to be a truly iconic film and what do we really understand by the term in the first place? Still captivated by Casablanca? Never seen Star Wars? Don't worry - this course will prove that you're not alone.
There will be a break for half term.

For their final play of 2017, Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society present "Edith in the Dark" by Philip Meeks.
Celebrated childrens author Edith Nesbit retreats to her attic writing room during one of her husbands tiresome christmas parties with her made and an unexpected, handsome party guest.
As midnight approaches, Edith gives a reading of her work. Not one of her cherished children's tales, but her terrifying early horror stories.
But as the night unfolds it becomes clear all is not what it seems...someone in the attic is hiding a deadly secret.
With a delicate balance of tongue-in-cheek and heart-in-mouth this is a deliciously creepy tale to bring down the curtain on another successful WADS year.
