Dial A Ride (Scarborough & District) Community Transport

Dial A Ride is a Scarborough based independent charity providing safe, reliable and accessible door to door transport for anyone aged 60+ or people of any age who have a disability. Our volunteers and staff are working hard to continue providing a service under difficult conditions. We are adhering to recommendations from Public Health England and the DfT with all drivers and passenger assistants issued with disposable gloves and face masks. Other additional hygiene measures are in place on all our vehicles include hand sanitiser gel for all passengers/staff, wiping down all contact points after every passengers, additional daily cleaning regimes and observing social distancing measures by only running our largest capacity vehicles. We can provide disposable gloves for passengers who may want to use these when shopping in supermarkets.

If passengers need to get to the early designated shopping hours then we do have volunteers happy to come in early to provide the transport you need. If you have shopping, meals or prescriptions that need collecting and delivering, we will be able to help with that, again observing social distancing rules. We can also take you to vital hospital appointments outside the Scarborough area where the driver will wait and return you home.

We can provide transport for permitted journeys to go food shopping, health care appointments or veterinary appointments. Our minibuses each have a driver and passenger assistant on board who are fully trained and DBS checked at enhanced level. All of our minibuses are fully wheelchair accessible, have drop down side steps, fold out handrails and grab rails to make independent boarding and alighting easier and safer for our passengers.

Our fares are reasonable and affordable - for example from Newby to Morrisons and return is £6.40, from south cliff to Sainsburys or the hospital is £4.90 return. We charge the same regardless of whether or not you need wheelchair access.
