Post Title:       Manager - Scarborough (f/t)

 YH Training Services Ltd is an owner managed company that has been in business for 30 years although its roots go back to a group training association that commenced  in 1972.  We have a reputation for providing high quality training and learning  to all our customers,  and are therefore making a real difference to people and  businesses across the region.   We are positively responding to all Government training and employment initiatives are able to offer a wide range of career opportunities to people who share our passion in improving the skills and raising the aspirations of both young people and adults via learning.     We are now seeking to appoint a pro-active and highly motivated Centre Manager to fully manage our Scarborough Centres and the delivery of Apprenticeships, Pre-Apprenticeships/Traineeships, Military Preparation Courses and maths and English together with other relevant courses to eligible learners from 16 upwards. 

Location / Hours / responsible to:

You will be based at our Scarborough Learning Centre, 26-28 Falsgrave Road, Scarborough, YO12 5AT,  and will also be responsible for managing:

  • The Army Reserve Centre (MPC Provision),  Coldyhill Lane,  Scarborough, YO12 5EA
  • Christchurch House,  Vernon Road, Scarborough, YO11 2NG

This is a full time position with responsibility direct to the Senior Management Team.    Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week).


General duties and responsibilities


-       Prepare and successfully deliver the budget with required turnover and surplus – increased turnover and surplus will lead to bonus/salary enhancement.

-       To manage all ESFA delivery in Scarborough (over 3 sites) and the surrounding areas as listed above.

-       To effectively manage the staff located at our three Centres together with ensuring the efficient, timely and effective delivery of all activity by Trainers/Tutors.

-       In conjunction with Quality Managers/IQA, ensure quality of Trainer/Tutor delivery is to the required level and standard.

-       Effectively support the Employee Engagement Manager/Team to ensure learner occupancy is met and business developed and increased.

-       Ensure all documentation and records are in line with Company and relevant Funding Agency procedures and requirements,  adhering to the required monthly checks as required.

-       Compilation of accurate weekly/monthly Centre reports to be forwarded to the MD/Head Office.

-       Attendance at Management/other meetings/events as required.

-       To maximise further business opportunities by networking and promoting YH to generate increased business.

-       To attend external meetings as required raising the profile of YH and developing partnerships with appropriate organisations.

-       To provide cover for holidays/ sickness in the absence of Trainers/Tutors and other staff.

-       To maintain the security of the buildings and their contents, and to be responsible for the effective use of all resources.

-       The requirement to undertake additional duties commensurate with the level and salary step for the role

-       To maintain own Continuous Professional Development with the support of YH, ensuring that minimum training hours are met and recorded & to ensure knowledge and skills remain current and up to date

Professional Training & Qualifications


-       Experience of Apprenticeship/Work Based Learning  in a Training Provider environment essential

-       Management qualification and associated occupational experience

-       A1 qualification (or equivalent)

-       PTLLS or Learning & Development Level 3 (or equivalent)

-       Full Clean Driving License

-       Company vehicle can be taken as part of salary package after probationary period although initially access to own vehicle required.
