Two Family Care/Support workers are required to help with an Autistic teenager, his younger brother and their mother who has some disabilities. The hours are up to 120 each per month.

Two Family Care/Support workers are required to help with an Autistic teenager, his younger brother and their mother who has some disabilities. The hours are up to 120 each per month.

The care and support is in the home /community environment, supporting them with their chosen activities.

The Care/ Support worker is to help the family with their teenage son who is Autistic, is virtually non verbal and has very challenging behaviour. He requires 2:1 support at all times.

The younger brother who is also on the Autistic Spectrum and has P.D.A(Pathological Demand Avoidance) syndrome, requires similar support, but on a 1:1 support.

The successful applicants will help them to develop life skills and support them to access social activities such as walking and swimming. Other duties are cooking, cleaning, changing bed linen & laundry duties. There may also be occasional support with respite care.

The mother also requires some help with shopping and household duties.

The applicant must like dogs, as there is a large friendly dog on the premises.

The hours to be covered are generally: 7.30 till 9 am, then 3 pm till 8/9 pm (weekdays) & weekends 10 am till 8 pm.

A rota is regularly updated to suit both family & staff .

Some experience in restraint training would be an advantage, although specialised restraint training will be given.

Essential for this position is an NVQ in Health and Social care , Autism Awareness and a current enhanced DBS .

There is a mileage allowance in the budget, therefore the applicant must have use of a car, and have business use on their insurance.

The rate of pay is £10.50 per hour. Please note that from 1st April 2019 the rate of pay will be increased to £10.90 per hour.
