Part time workshop assistant required, assisting with the support of young people on a practical project funded by the Big Lottery.

The duties will be to provide support to the Field Leader and learners on all aspects of the project including hands on workshop based tasks and outdoor projects. This role is an active, practical role which will include working with hand tools and assisting learners with achieving practical tasks. The role also entails liaising with external agencies to promote the service to recruit eligible young people onto the project. The successful candidate will work to promote the inclusion of all students within the learning environment and outdoor projects as well as establishing and promoting productive relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. To contribute to the management of student behaviour, maintain order and an appropriate working environment, including implementation of the projects behaviour policies. This role is subject to DBS checks.

Skills and Qualities: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good relationships with young people & service users. • A proactive attitude with a willingness to get involved with a variety of tasks. • Experience of working with young people in groups and 1 -2 -1 • A minimum L2 Maths and English qualification or equivalent would be an advantage • Good organisational skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • A full driving license would be an advantage • First Aid certificate would be an advantage or willing to work towards
