The post holder will have, use and develop specialist clinical skills in the management of palliative care patients within the hospice in-patient unit and Wellbeing Centre with the ability to devise patient-centred treatment programmes.

The post-holder will play an active organisational role within the designated area of responsibility; including promoting a rehabilitative approach, service development, education, supporting members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as providing support to the Therapy Team Leader as required. The post holder will be responsible for the line management and supervision of the Rehabilitation Assistant.

Essential Skills, Qualities & Experience                                                                                 

Diploma/BSc/MSc Physiotherapy                                                            

Registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)                                           

Significant post registration experience in core physiotherapy areas           including management of palliative patients and rehabilitation, minimum 3 years                              

Demonstrable range of physiotherapy skills, managing a complex case load                                

Demonstrable evidence of additional training/ education in a relevant specialist area

Demonstrable effective communication skills; verbal and non-verbal

Demonstrable leadership skills including the provision of professional/clinical supervision

Demonstrable excellent organisation and time management skills

Demonstrable knowledge and application of the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding for the protection of adults and children

Knowledgeable in life limiting illnesses and impact of interventions

Knowledgeable in the work of the Hospice and the holistic nature of Palliative Car.

Knowledgeable in the importance of Organisational Culture and Values

Knowledgeable in clinical governance

Experienced in audit and research for service development

Experienced in delivering education to professionals, volunteers, patients and families.

Experienced working as an autonomous practitioner as well as part of the multi-disciplinary team

Experienced in moving and handling patients 

Experienced in writing clear documentation with current knowledge and understanding of information governance including maintaining confidentiality and data protection.

Be computer literate           

Committed to continuing professional development                                                    

Provide Hepatitis B status

Complete a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced level check and clearance

Provide valid work permit (if applicable)                                                                                     

Hold full UK driving licence
