FABRICATORS NEEDED! A positive attitude & good team work ethic to compliment our existing team within our production environment is essential. The successful applicants will be required to manufacture a variety of PVCu and/or Aluminium products.


Post: Manufacturing Operative

Employer: SWC Trade Frames Limited

Accountable To: Production Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Variable up to 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Please note

that flexibility will be needed at times to meet the varying production

& delivery schedule.

SWC Trade Frames has been family run since 1989 & is a Quality Assured Company that manufactures high quality PVCu and Aluminium products including casement & sash windows, residential & bi-folding doors, conservatories & orangeries. A previous holder of the prestigious national industry "Fabricator of the Year" Award, SWC is also known for it's proven track record of being a modern, progressive, customer focussed business. 

Job Purpose

To contribute to the manufacture of the above mentioned products using quality assured

process flows.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Quality management System (QMS)

  • Comply with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s)

  • Contribute to Quality System reviews and give feedback for improvements to the SOP’s and the Quality Management System (QMS) to your line manager

  • Ensure that non-conformance issues are reported.

Quality Assurance

  • Comply with the agreed quality assurance measures that are in place.

  • Check the accuracy of product and profile dimensions within agreed tolerances.

  • Visually inspect and check product before it proceeds to the next stage of production.


  • Accurately read and interpret production paperwork.

  • Follow relevant production process flow as instructed.

  • Ensure that the agreed quality checklist/tolerance procedures are followed accurately.

  • Adhere to production Standardised Operating Procedures

  • Safely transfer the product to the next stages of production.

Health and Safety of Self and Others

  • Keep work area tidy.

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued at all times whilst on duty.

  • Report hazards.

  • Adhere to good practice moving & handling techniques as products within this department can be heavy & unwieldy.

  • Abide by all health and safety procedures in workplace.

People,Team Working & Communication

  • Positively support other members of the team both new and established.

  • Report defects and concerns as soon as possible to your Process Quality Charge-hand.

General Duties

  • Adhere to SWC good practice health and safety and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Participate in individual training opportunities relevant to the post and team objectives.

  • Support cover arrangements as requested.

Assessment Method









Skills test


4 GCSE's including Maths* and English at Grade C or above (or O level/other equivalent)


*If not in possession of the above, candidates will need to undertake an assessment to determine their skill level in these areas
























Craft, Design and Technology (CDT) related qualifications, e.g. metalwork, woodwork






First Aid Qualification






Health and Safety






Able to work both independently and within a team





Able to analyse and interpret information




Sound interpersonal and communication skills






Competent with basic mathematics




Able to use and read a steel rule/tape accurately




Able to use hand held power tools (air)





Able to work to tight deadlines





Ability to use initiative and problem solve





Moving and handling skills






Previous fabrication/joinery experience





Experience of working in a fast moving factory production environment





Experience of working in a performance managed, quality assured, environment such as ISO 9001





Knowledge of basic Health and Safety requirements





Knowledge of PVCu / aluminium industry







Willingness to learn

Between £8.30 and £9.00 Per Hour
£8.30 is the initial training rate
