Caring For the Coast...

We've teamed up with the area's leading health care training provider for nurses & health workers, CU Scarborough, to celebrate nurses across the Yorkshire Coast as part of this year's International Nurses Day!

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on the 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, and aims to mark the amazing contributions nurses make to our society.

Emily Harrison, the course leader for Nursing at CU Scarborough tells us a little bit more about this international event...

"This year the theme is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit”. Nurses around the world are encouraged to celebrate the incredible work they do by holding events and taking the opportunity to promote nursing. There are very few people who won’t have received nursing care at some point during their lives and in these often challenging times it’s an opportunity to focus on the positives and the difference that nurses make. It’s a day to remember nurses past and present who have shaped the care we deliver today and a time to reflect on the things we do. It’s a day for others to show their appreciation for nurses and for nurses themselves to feel proud of the profession they are part of."
