Volleyball at Bridlington South Beach

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Volleyball England are delighted to announce the 2016 Volleyball England Beach Tour (VEBT) will be coming to Bridlington South Beach (Park & Ride) on 6/7 August.

This is the first time that Bridlington has been chosen as a host venue for the tour for almost eight years which places Bridlington as one of the lead towns for beach volleyball across the United Kingdom..

The VEBT is the country's premier event for the nation's top beach volleyball players. Staged at some of the best beach locations across the country, the VEBT attracts the best players England has to offer, and previous participants have included Team GB Olympians and other international athletes.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said:

“We are delighted to have secured this event and we look forward to welcoming some of the country’s elite beach volleyball players to Bridlington. This event fits perfectly with our Active Coast vision which aims to provide residents and visitors with the opportunity to take part in year round leisure and cultural activity on the East Riding coastline. It also enables us to showcase our beautiful coastline and award winning beaches whilst watching a premier sporting event.”

The following five venues have been chosen to host an event in this year’s tour:

Great Yarmouth on 25/26 June, Skegness on 9/10 July, Weymouth on 30/31 July, Bridlington on 6/7 August with the tour finals taking place at Margate on 20/21 August.

The event will take place between 9.00am and 5.00pm with free entry to watch the matches. Coaches will also be available free of charge to provide tuition and equipment for anyone wishing to try the game.
