Yorkshire Coast Radio is proud to be supporting Scarborough's Armed Forces Day in Scarborough on Saturday, 30th June 2018. Join us as we broadcast live from the event and help us say ‘Thank You’ to the British Armed Forces – the past, present and future. Armed Forces Day events are also taking place in Whitby and Bridlington, we have timings & additional information about these events below.

Now in its tenth year, this popular family fun day is set to be a brilliant event. With amazing displays from the BLADES Aeronautical display team, Rich Goodwin and his high energy muscle display bi-plane and an RAF Deakota, not to mention band performances, parades and so much more, this event is certainly not to be missed!

 

Scarborough South Bay Event Programme

  • Welcome by the Town Crier for the Borough of Scarborough
  • Scandinavian Marching Youth Band step off from Luna Park

  • Rich Goodwin’s Muscle Biplane Aerobatics Display

  • RAF Cadets First Aid Demonstration at their stall opposite Gilly’s

  • Civic opening led by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band
  • Welcome by the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough, Cllr Joe Plant
  • Response by Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs Francesca Horsfield JP DL
  • Presentation of Veterans’ Badges with citations:
  • Mr Ian McCulloch (Ex Army) and Mr William (Bill) Smalley (Ex Army) presented by the Mayor, Cllr Joseph Plant
  • Mrs Eva Haward (Ex RN) presented by Commodore Phil Waterhouse ADC RN, Naval Regional Commander Northern England and the Isle of Man
  • Presentation of Certificates of Appreciation by Cllr Tom Fox, Chair of Scarborough Armed Forces Day Steering Group
  • The Yorkshire Volunteers Band perform

  • To mark the RAF 100 years there will be a tribute flypast of a RAF Dakota and the event is hosting exhibitions by RAF Fylingdales, 739 Sqn air cadets and RAFA.
