The Fishermen & Firemen Football Match

21st December 2011

Every Boxing Day, the crowds turn out to see the Fishermen v Firemen Football Match on Scarborough's South Bay Beach.

Together with the Mile Of Pennies and the Raft Race, it raises money for underpriveleged families in Scarborough.

I went to the beach to meet one of the captains and organisers Billy Blades:

Kick off is at 1030 on Boxing Day morning.

"Open Arms" in Bridlington

16th December 2011

Daniel Crayford was my guest today.

He’s set up Open Arms in Bridlington.

They focus on helping the homeless community and recovering addicts, but offer guidance and support for anyone with problems of any kind.

Daniel has been there himself.

He told me a how he went from a £1000 a week drug habit, to helping others like him:

The Dog Who Fell In Love With A Sheep

9th December 2011

Today I was finding out about Raw Animal Rescue, in the tiny hamlet of Raw near Robin Hoods Bay.

Norma Carrick takes in animals of every shape and size and helps them find a new home.

I went thinking I’d be finding out about the charity and their appeal for volunteers – I did - but I’ve got a love story for you as well:

Ghostly Goings On At A House In Bridlington

8th December 2011

Dave Garrity from Bridlington called me to tell me about a 6ft by 6ft face that had appeared in the plaster of his dining room wall.

Meanwhile, his 5 year old son Dagan woke to find a grey man standing next to his bed.

I went along to investigate:

Here's Dave and Dagan, the ghostly image in their plasterwork and the table that leapt off the bed.
