Work to demolish five cottages in Whitby could go on into the new year.

That is according to Scarborough Borough Council, which says pulling down the homes on Aelfleda Terrace has to be done carefully.

Landslips after the flooding a couple of weeks ago led to the decision that the properties were unsafe.

Contractors at the site are keeping an eye out for a pet owned by a woman who lived there.
