Libraries across the country will be celebrating National Libraries Day on Saturday 4th February 2012, for all the wonderful, inspirational and essential things libraries do and the contribution they make to society.
North Yorkshire Libraries will be encouraging everyone to join their local library and to find out more about what is on offer.
Some libraries will be holding events or special promotions.

Fun for all the family with a library treasure hunt for younger children and a library quiz for older children and adults
Get creative by contributing to the “What your Library means to you” Poster.
Hunmanby:
Monday 30th January to Saturday 4th February – Memory Wall
Throughout the week anybody can drop in and add their memories and then the results will be put together in a special reminiscent scrap book.
Scarborough:
Friends of Scarborough/Forty Club Debate 11.15am
A lively debate is promised, also promotion to Friends and other attendees: Check your library membership.

Exhibition showing ‘Scarborough Library: Then & Now’ looking at how the library has changed over the last 100 years
Display showing the breadth of stock available, from Basic Skills to academic thesis,
