An Evening with Wildlife and Aviation Photographer Andy Rouse

Mick Carroll was a well-known and popular local conservationist and birdwatcher who was passionate about wildlife conservation, particularly protection of Birds-of-Prey from persecution and habitat destruction. He died from pancreatic cancer on 21st October 2015, and was nursed in St. Catherine's Hospice for the last weeks of his life. It was his wish to raise funds for the Hospice, and he asked his good friend Andy Rouse, Professional Wildlife and Aviation Photographer, to put on an event. Andy duly obliged, and in February 2016 he gave a wonderful illustrated talk at Scarborough Rugby Club about his photographic experiences over the previous year, enthralling an audience of wildlife and photographic enthusiasts, all of whom agreed it was a truly memorable evening. Unexpectedly, Andy announced he would make it an annual event, so, in 2017, the second Mick Carroll Memorial Event will be held at the same venue on Thursday 23rd February at 7-30pm. Anyone with an interest in wildlife, aviation, and photography will find this a superb night. Andy is a very amusing and animated speaker, and his images are always brilliant. He travels extensively, recently being in India for Tigers, Madagascar for Lemurs and Africa for Gorillas - just a few of his exciting subjects. Tickets are £15 from billetto.co.uk/the-mick-carroll-memorial-event or £17.50 on the door.

Hunmanby Community Centre

YO14 0NS

I am John Storey, I'm 17 years old and I attend Scarborough Sixth Form College. I am holding a charity music night in order to help fundraise towards the cost of my overseas relief/mission trip to the Youth With A Mission base in Ensenada, Mexico where I shall be returning to serve the community there for just under 5 weeks this summer.

I will be returning to Ensenada where I spent 10 days volunteering in the summer of 2016. Some of the voluntary work that I've already done there which has driven me to return in order to be able to do similar work includes:
•Helping to build a house for a young family
•Volunteering at an orphanage
•Helping to do the roofing and painting of a Sunday school
•Helping to build bunk beds and paint walls at a men's shelter
•Handing out aid to a community living on a dump site

The money raised from the charity music night will enable me to carry out similar volunteer work for 5 weeks to help serve the poor of Mexico. It will be a great night which will include live music from Toby Burton, Aaron Storey and March The Ally.

Please come down to the Hunmanby Community Centre on Saturday 25th February to support a very worthy cause and hear some amazing live music. Doors open at at 7:00pm with the event itself starting at 7:30pm.

Tickets cost £5 with all proceeds helping to fund my overseas relief work with YWAM Ensenada.
To buy/reserve tickets, please contact John Storey on 01262 603798 or email johnphilipstorey@gmail.com

Thank you ever so much for taking time to view the details for my event, I look forward to hopefully seeing you on the 25th!

Pancake Saturday and Snowdrop Walk

Saturday 25th February, 2017 11:00am

Snainton Village Hall
Headon Cottage
Wydale
Wydale Hall

On Sunday 26 February from 11am-3pm the gardens of Headon Cottage, Wydale, near Scarborough and the grounds of Wydale Hall will be open to the public for a Snowdrop Walk. This is the first time these gardens have been open to the public at this time of year.

They are kindly being opened to help raise money for the St Stephen’s church, Snainton new roof appeal. The village church was built around 1825, so the original roof has not done badly, but is now in a sorry state of repair, leaking badly.

Maps for the Walk will be on sale from Wydale Hall, YO13 9DG, which is situated in the heart of beautiful countryside between the villages of Snainton and Brompton-by-Sawdon on the A170, approximately midway between Scarborough and Pickering. Adults £5, children free, dogs on short leads allowed in the gardens but not in the Hall itself.

Mugs of hot soup, as well as tea/coffee and cakes will be on sale. Parking will be signposted.
For further information telephone 01723 859843 or 859130

The day before – Saturday 25 February will be ‘Pancake Saturday’ in Snainton. Drop into Snainton Village Hall from 11am for morning coffee followed by a choice of homemade soups and ‘Pancakes’ with a choice of toppings. Raffle, tombola, cake and handicraft stalls all raising money for St Stephen’s Church Roof Appeal
