Active Coast and Country's Beginner Walk to Run groups are led by qualified Run Leaders, who will support and motivate you on your way from walking to running. The beginner group is a gentle introduction to developing running, with a concentration on building confidence and running techniques.

Sessions are £1.50 and participants will receive an Active Coast and Country t-shirt after completing 5 sessions.

The ever popular Apollo Players return to Whitby Pavilion Theatre this January with another fun-filled family pantomime.

All is not well in the village of Old Windy Bottom with the Giant taking up residency high in the clouds and casting shadows and misery upon the villagers.

Step forward Jack, a bright and plucky young man who lives on the dairy farm with his mum Dame Dolly Dimple and brother Simple Simon. He sets out to outwit the Giant and win the hand of Princess Primose.....but not before some business with some very magic beans!

Packed full of side-splitting comedy, bags of audience participation, colourful characters, songs and lots of surprises this new version of an old favourite is sure to be a huge hit with old and young! Dazzling costumes and sparkling sets are topped off with the usual Apollo Players magic.....a fantastic way to start 2017!

An Evening of Stunning Chamber Music

There will be a concert of Chamber Music featuring David Johnson (violin) and Thomas Bertolotti (cello). The concert is being premiered in Hull the night before as a part of a chamber concert series from Hull European City of Culture 2017.

The programme is:

Paganini Duo no 1 op 1
Ravel Sonate for Violin and Cello

It is an interesting programme, many pieces are quite short, the main work is the Ravel Duo which is a wonderful and demanding piece and the Martinu Duo is also wonderful and very colourful.

There will be no admittance fee, but donations will be requested, which will go towards St Mark’s Building Project, which is set up to extend the church and build a new Youth and Community Hall.
