Cheaper Car Parking in Scarborough and Whitby Town Centres
1st March 2012 6:51 am
Scarborough Borough Council is introducing reductions on its town centre short stay car parks in Scarborough and Whitby this week.
From Thursday 1 March the following short stay car parks in the town centres will offer significantly cheaper parking charges. The one, two, three and four hour tariffs have been reduced by fifty pence and the six hour tariff by £1.
- Castle Road car park, Scarborough (during July and August only)
- Falconers Road car park, Scarborough
- King Street car park, Scarborough
- North Street car park, Scarborough
- St Nicholas Parade car park, Scarborough
- St Thomas Street car park, Scarborough
- Victoria Road car park, Scarborough
- Cliff Street car park, Whitby
- St Hilda’s Terrace, Whitby
Councillor Andrew Backhouse, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Technical Services, Highways and Transport, Environment, Project Management and Coastal and Flood Defences said:
“The reductions come as part of the council’s annual review of car parking fees and charges within the borough.
“The council has carefully considered ways to try and increase the attractiveness of town centre short stay car parks in these difficult financial times and while this has resulted in some increases of charges in long stay car parks in the outer areas of the two towns we hope that this will go some way to help local businesses and boost Scarborough’s and Whitby’s town centre economies.”
