Plans For Wind Turbines on Scarborough Crown Spa Hotel Discussed

A report into an application by a Scarborough hotel to put up wind turbines will be considered on Thursday.
The Crown Spa Hotel wants to put 16 of them on it's roof but the report the council will look at recommends refusing the application.
The hotel want to do it to be more energy efficient.
David Frank's a Director at the hotel and says he doesn't think they'd be an eye-sore. Read more...
Seal Rescued From Scarborough Beach

A seal's been rescued from a Scarborough beach.

Big Diamond Jubilee Celebration

St Andrew's United Reformed Church at Ramshill, Scarborugh, is hosting a day of community events to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. On Sunday 3 June there will be a church service, starting at 10.00 am, at which the Mayor and Mayoress will be present, and a number of military standards will be received into the church. Between noon and 4.00 pm. there will be a 'bring and share' Big Jubilee Lunch,weather permittting as a picnic in the church grounds, or indoors if necessary. There will be children's games and competitions, and a fancy dress competition for 3 age groups. In the evening there will be a barbecue between 6.00 and 9.00 pm. All these events are free, and though everyone is welcome, we particularly would like the commmunity of South Cliff to come along and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime great big party. The event is being organised by the church in partnership with the Friends of South Cliff Gardens and the Scarborough Branch of the Royal Engineers' Association. Read more...
