Dippers wanted for Flamborough Pre-School Boxing Day dip
Christmas is fast approaching which means that preparations are well underway for the Flamborough Pre-School Boxing Day Dip.
This year the event will celebrate its sixth anniversary and organisers are hoping that this year’s dip will create an even bigger splash of cash for the local Pre-school. Since the first dip in 2009, the event has raised much needed funds for Flamborough Pre-School.
This year, participants are being encouraged to dress in Hawaiian themed fancy dress.
Carrie-Ann Taylor, Committee Chairperson at the Pre-school and one of the organisers of the event, said: “Each year the event has grown in popularity and we are delighted that it has now become part of the festive calendar for the local community whilst helping raise vital funds for the Pre-school.”
Once again the Flamborough Longsword Dancers are supporting the event. They are encouraging local people to head down to South Landing to cheer on the dippers before heading back into the village for their annual Boxing Day tradition which sees them performing outside each pub in aid of local charities.
Carrie-Ann said: “We want Boxing Day to be a day that local people really look forward to, full of lots of community activity and traditions.
“We are very grateful to the Longsword dancers who are once again supporting our event and of course all our dippers and spectators.”
To register for this year’s event please collect a sponsorship form from ‘The old Tuck Shop’ in Flamborough or The Rose and Crown pub. Dippers and spectators are asked to gather at South Landing for 10.30am with the dip starting at 10 45am.
The Longsword Dancer’s will be performing outside the Rose and Crown pub in High Street at 1pm.

A doctor attends this small branch surgery on a rota basis Monday to Friday at 2.00pm. There is no appointment system, so please be prompt as the doctor leaves when all waiting patients have been seen. While most medical problems can be dealt with here, occasionally the doctor may ask you to attend the Bridlington Surgery, where there are better facilities for examination and investigation, and where your main medical notes are kept. A Nurse also attends every Tuesday and Friday at 2.00pm for dressings, injections, ear wash-outs and general advice. Cervical smears and immunisations can be carried out at Flamborough, provided you ring the Bridlington Surgery in advance to let us know you are coming. Read more...
