What was your first job?
Stuffing packets of crisps into boxes for a summer when I was a kid

I think it was the ‘Auf Wiedersehn Pet' series 2 theme song by Joe Fagin
What was your nickname at school?
Every derivation of the name ‘Michael' you can think of - Mike, Mikey, Mick, Micky etc.
What has been your best radio moment?
Just managing to get through my first ever show all those years ago without the transmitter imploding.
... and the worst?
I once mispronounced the word ‘funky'...with hilarious consequences
What career would you have chosen if you weren't working in Radio?
Something creative and challenging like writing, acting or music...to think I turned my back on all that for radio!
What are the things that really wind you up?
Most reality TV shows, slow drivers, lorries taking forever to overtake other lorries, traffic jams in general, speed bumps, speed cameras (I do a lot of driving!), rude shop assistants and the inappropriate use (or omission) of apostrophes.
Who would you most like to interview?
John Lennon...I've left it a bit late, I know!
Favourite film:
I have dozens, but ‘Ghostbusters', ‘Goodfellas', ‘The Quiet Earth', ‘Billy Liar' and ‘Day of the Dead' leap to mind
Favourite TV show as a child:

Favourite TV show as an adult:
‘Ashes to Ashes' (and its predecessor series ‘Life on Mars', they're part of the same saga)
Favourite song:
I've got millions and it's constantly changing, but in terms of current stuff, I like that Owl City song.
Favourite food:
Indian, although Italian, Thai and Chinese deserve honourable mentions
Favourite place on the Yorkshire Coast:
I know it's ever-so-slightly inland, but the North York Moors.
Favourite item of clothing:
Any of my vast collection of various leather jackets of different lengths and styles
Favourite holiday destination:
Venice
